Last week when I heard a blip about this 615 billion dollar defense allotment I hunted frantically for information which I never found as it was hidden behind a bailout barrage in the news. FINALLY here is the info I was looking for from The REAL NEWS:

One of the few people to comment on the measure was Chalmers Johnson, in his article "We have the money". I think they will probably take this 615 BILLION dollars and use it by proxy to generate profits in the private/elitist sector. As Chalmers Johnson says: The US cannot possibly fund all civilian needs AND a GIANT military budget.
When the money is drained out of main street the people have no power to fight back.
They are "banking" on the fact that a weakened populace is a distracted populace, busy looking for food and shelter and unlikely to rise up against the forces that would bring them down. But this can backfire UNLESS they declare martial law which I think a lot of this money is going to pay for out of the 615 billion, of which $40 billion has been allotted for homeland security, that is your and my ass on the line.
